Now that the global pandemic has put you indoors to stay safe, what do you spend your time doing at home? You’ve probably completed all of NetFlix, while binge-eating, or maybe you spend the whole day looking at memes and chatting with friends. But you don’t have to waste all of your time at home on petty things that would add little or no value to you. Instead, you can stay productive during the lockdown, even from the comfort of your home.

You can also keep boredom at bay by staying occupied with productive activities that will make you better or add money to your account. From updating your CV, organizing your wardrobe, to starting a blog, there are many productive things you can do for the time being.

Without much ado, check out these smart ideas:

1. Plan your Meal

You know it can be quite tedious sitting to plan meals for your family when you have to hurry to get prepared for work, drop your kids at school, and dash to the office. Now is an excellent time to take care of that.

Yea, now that everyone is at home, you will have to prepare at least two meals if not three daily. So while sitting on your couch or lying in bed, you can spend 20 minutes one day a week to think through breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The truth is that you’ll be amazed at how much time you’ll be saving during mealtimes. Not just time, but it also reduces stress.

One smart idea again! After planning your meals, you can get everything you need in advance (but make you have a good storage measure in place).

2. Learn a Language

The only language you probably understand in “English.” But don’t you think it’s a great idea to pick up a new one that interests you? Now the good part is that you’ll have the edge over a lot of people, even your co-workers when you can speak a foreign language (Not necessarily fluently).

So you can stay productive during lockdown by choosing to learn languages like French, Spanish, Italian, etc. The good part is that you don’t have to break a bank to do this! Yea, you can get a wide selection of online tutorials and YouTube videos at your disposal. The only price you pay is your data; so hurry and seize the moment, buddy!

3. Update your CV and professional accounts

Remember all those times you said “I need to update my CV when I have the time,” Well, now is the best time to fix that and get all your latest achievements, skills, and degrees on your CV, LinkedIn Profile, cover letter, and other professional accounts.

Instead of searching for the next movie to see, get on your CV and professional accounts, and give them a total makeover. It keeps you prepared for new opportunities after the lockdown period.

4. Get Fit

Oh, yea! Your fitness is also an aspect you should work on to stay productive during this lockdown period. It’s a good chance for you to get fit by trying some simple exercises you can do from the comfort of your home (YouTube videos can help a great deal here).

So if you have a goal to build lean muscles, burn belly fat, or improve on your look generally, now is the time to make up for all your excuses.

5. Learn to Code

It’s no news anymore that we’re in a digital age. And there are lots of technological advancements that you can tap into to stay productive during a lockdown. You don’t have to become a pro, but learning to code can make you have a significant edge in today’s world.

Yea, coding is a highly sought-after skill, and people pay massive amounts to buy this service. So instead of those technophobic dependencies, you can teach yourself to master this skill and up your self-worth.

6. Start a blog

You can also dedicate your time to writing blogs during this lockdown. It is a fantastic way to share your passion and connect with the world. You can also use it as an online writing portfolio. So take this time to get those creative juices flowing.

7. Write a Novel

No doubt, a lot of us find writing a novel too daunting a task, mainly because we don’t even have the time to sit and put words together. But now that you are off your office desk, you can pass the time by writing an exciting novel that has the potential to reach the world and sell hugely.

Come to think of it! You can even write two or three short novels with interesting storylines to sell on Amazon. It could fetch you a lot of money! And who knows, you might end up being the next J.K Rowling.

8. Send notes

Now apart from those money making ideas, this is an excellent time to write those thank you cards that you forgot in your to-do list. Well, if you don’t have one, it’s not a bad idea to create one!

Yea, all you need is to think of those friends, co-workers, or relations that have put a smile on your face in one way or the other. You can send a card or a few written notes to them through your mail. It will be thrilling and will make them feel more loved and appreciated.

9. Organize your wardrobe

Most of us have a lot of clothes that we’ll never wear again, taking up space in our closet. But now is an excellent time to declutter your closet and clear all those sad pieces that have lost value.

You can pass those pair of jeans that don’t fit onto your friends, to send all the clothes you no longer need to charity. Another great idea is to find the nearest clothing bank and recycle it.

Closing Remark

It would be best if you spent time on things that you’d look at after this lockdown period and pat yourself in the back. Don’t be a couch potato, spending all your time on movies and social media. You can stay productive during lockdown using all the smart ideas highlighted above. Remember to stay Safe!
